How to play

Two gestures is all a child needs. Everything else is discovery.

No reading required in the app — this page is for the grown-up sitting alongside.

The whole game, in three moves

Every mode is built on the same simple handling, so a child who learns one mode already knows them all.

👇

Drag a marble in

Press a marble in the tray at the bottom and drag it over a glass tube. Let go — it drops and stacks up from the bottom with a clink.

🫗

Tap a tube to pour

Tap any filled tube and it tips over and empties. That's the undo — nothing is ever lost or wrong, just pour it out and try again.

🎉

Match, and celebrate

There's no button to press and nothing to submit. The moment the tubes match, confetti, sparkles and a chime arrive on their own.

Red
Orange
Yellow
Green
Blue
Purple

Every colour also carries its own shape, so the game plays the same for colour-blind children.

The nine modes, step by step

Free Play, Learn, Pattern and the first Adventure world are free. The rest come with the one-time Full Unlock.

🎨

Free Play

Free

A sandbox with no goal, no card and no way to lose. The best place to start.

  1. Drag any marble from the tray into any tube.
  2. Fill the tubes however they like — stripes, one colour, a jumble.
  3. Tap a tube to pour it out and start again.
Grown-up tip: spend the first session here. Once the drag-and-pour is second nature, every other mode explains itself.
🎓

Learn

Free

A friendly voice asks for a number of a colour in a particular tube — counting, colour names and left / middle / right, all in one.

  1. Listen: "Put three red marbles in the middle tube." The prompt is spoken and shown.
  2. Drag that many of that colour into that tube.
  3. Get it right and you're praised, then the next prompt arrives. Miscount? Pour and retry — nothing is marked wrong.
Six languages: the voice speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Italian or German — it follows the device, or pick one in Settings.
🔵

Pattern Play

Free

A string of beads with the end missing. Spot the repeat and keep it going — the classic pre-maths patterning skill.

  1. Look at the row: something like red · blue · red · blue · …
  2. The last few slots are empty. Drag the colour the pattern calls for into each blank.
  3. Fill every blank correctly and a new pattern is served.
Grown-up tip: say the pattern out loud together — "red, blue, red, blue, so what comes next?" Hearing the rhythm is how the rule clicks.
🗺️

Adventure

World 1 free

A map of nine little worlds — a Playroom, a Truck Yard, a Castle Keep, a Rescue Bay and more — strung together as 56 short levels.

  1. Tap the glowing tile on the map. That's the next level.
  2. Play the puzzle it hands you — each world is built around one mode.
  3. Win, and the path lights up to the next tile. Stickers arrive along the way.
  4. Clear a whole world and it hands over its marble theme — fruit, animals, dinosaurs, space, cars, trucks and more — usable everywhere in the game.
Themes are earned, not bought: playing the Adventure is how a child collects the marble sets. There is no way to lose progress on the map.
🃏

Challenge

A recipe card appears above the tubes. Build exactly what it shows.

  1. Read the card: each column of dots is one tube, bottom marble at the bottom.
  2. Drag marbles in so every tube matches its column — right colours, right order.
  3. Wrong stack? Tap that tube to pour it out and rebuild it.
  4. The instant all tubes match, the celebration fires by itself.
🧺

Sort

The tubes start scrambled. Tidy them until each tube holds a single colour. This is the one mode where marbles move between tubes.

  1. Drag the top marble off a tube.
  2. Drop it on an empty tube, or on a tube whose top marble is the same colour.
  3. Any other drop simply bounces back — an illegal move can't be made by accident.
  4. Keep going until every tube is one clean colour.
Undo takes back the last move and Hint shows a good next one — both sit under the tubes, use them freely. The very first time a child opens Sort, the game plays one move for them so they can see how it works.
🧠

Memory

Challenge, but the card hides itself. Look, remember, then build it blind.

  1. The card is shown for a moment, then a cover slides over it.
  2. Build what you remember with the marbles.
  3. Forgotten it? Tap the covered card for a two-second peek. Peek as often as you like — there's no penalty and nothing is counted.
  4. Match the hidden card and the celebration arrives.
🧪

Color-Mix

A beaker and a target colour. Work out which colours make it — real subtractive colour mixing, the first bit of proper STEM in the game.

  1. Look at the target swatch — say, orange.
  2. Drag the ingredient colours from the tray into the beaker.
  3. Two primaries make a secondary (red + yellow = orange). A primary plus a neighbouring secondary makes a tertiary. All three primaries make brown.
  4. Hit the target and the beaker fills with the colour they just invented.
It grows quietly: the tray starts with just the three primaries, and widens as the child succeeds — up to ten makeable colours. Easy difficulty stays on secondaries and never ramps.
🏠

Decorate the Playroom

Not a puzzle — a reward. Every sticker earned in the Sticker Book can be placed in a room of their own.

  1. Open the Playroom from the home screen.
  2. Pick a sticker you've earned and drag it anywhere in the room.
  3. Move it, or take it back out, whenever you like. It stays exactly as they left it.

Picking the right difficulty

Set it on the home screen, above the modes. It's not a score — pick the one that keeps the play calm.

Easy3 tubes, 3 colours, and the card shows counts rather than exact stacks. The right starting point for a 4-year-old — and Color-Mix stays on the simple secondaries here.
Medium4 tubes, 4 colours, exact colour order on the card. Adds the tertiary colours to Color-Mix.
Hard5 tubes, 5 colours, and brown joins Color-Mix. Comfortable for a confident 6-year-old.

For the grown-up

The things a child never has to think about — all behind a parental gate.

Parental gateA quick multiplication question guards Settings and the store, so nothing important can be tapped by accident. You can switch it to Face ID / Touch ID instead; the question stays as the fallback.
Coming backLeave mid-puzzle and the game offers Continue when you return, or a fresh start. In-game, swipe from the left edge to go back to the home screen.
Play timeOptional, off by default: set a gentle daily limit (15–60 min). It never interrupts a puzzle — the child finishes, then a calm wind-down appears. No clock or countdown is ever shown to the child, and running out never shows the paywall. You can grant more time behind the gate.
Child's ProgressA read-only dashboard: what they've played, what they've earned, and a "This week" summary of minutes per day and which skills got practised.
Daily treatA sticker and a gentle streak for coming back — never punishing, never nagging, and missing a day costs nothing.
Sound & voiceToggle the sound effects and the spoken colour names separately, and pick the app's language, in Settings.
Across devicesProgress, stickers and earned themes sync over iCloud between your child's own iPhone and iPad. No account, no sign-up, no data collected.
